Sky Rockets and Holmdene victorious at T20-matches in Standerton

Sky Rockets beat Eagle Solar by 15 runs in the first match at 10;30.

The business league of Standerton Cricket Club is in full swing.

Two matches were played at the Piet van den Berg-oval on Sunday, September 11.

Sky Rockets beat Eagle Solar by 15 runs in the first match at 10:30.

The scoreboard read 160/3 in 20 overs for the winning team while Eagle Solar had 145/8 in 20 overs.

Eagle Solar opted to bowl and Jacques Nel took two wickets and conceded 24 runs, Iain Patullo took one wicket and conceded 16 runs and Riaad conceded 10 runs.

The batsmen of Sky Rockets made good and Ruan shone like a star with 115 runs of 66 deliveries, Theuns Snyders made 15 runs of 16 deliveries and W. Muller 14 runs of 33 deliveries.

Eagle Solar’s batsmen had their work cut out for them and Werner Mouton managed a worthy 43 runs of 24 deliveries, Elpee Jordaan 29 runs of 39 deliveries and Estienne du Toit 11 runs of 17 deliveries.

They faced the bowling attack of W. Muller’s 2/12, Michael Hobkirk’s 2/27 and Ruan’s 2/41.

Holmdene took on Blue Bottle Barbarians and clinched a victory in the second match by winning by 13 runs.

The scoreboard read 166/7 in 20 overs, while their opponents had to be satisfied with 153 all out.

Blue Bottle Barbarians opted to bowl, with Louis Bibbey taking three wickets and conceding 18 runs, Schalk van der Merwe taking two wickets and conceding 12 runs and Carus Janse van Rensburg taking two wickets and conceding 43 runs.

The batting figures of Holmdene stood at PJ Venter who made 41 runs of 36 deliveries, Billy Lyons who made 33 runs of 39 deliveries and Bibbey who made 30 runs of 19 deliveries.

The batsmen of Blue Bottle Barbarians managed to get the scoreboard rolling with Solly van Rensburg who made 48 runs of 37 deliveries, Quintin Kruger who made 22 runs of 13 deliveries and Jaden Breytenbach who made 14 runs of 9 deliveries.

Jan-Dirk van Dyk took three wickets and conceded 22 runs, Hermann took one wicket and conceded 17 runs and Breytenbach did likewise.
