Nearly 50 brave souls take on Standerton parkrun

Tshiamo Lephoto completed the distance in a time of 20:49, followed by Johan Ferreira’s 26:09.

The frost was evident at the Standerton River Park on June 10, but the cold did not deter 47 participants to take on the parkrun at 08:00.

Delaney Grobbelaar recorded a time of 27:09, while Mbuso Mazibuko came in at 29:14 and Pieter Grobbelaar at 31:48.


Here we go, the first uphill to navigate.

Frans Vermaak and his four-legged companion registered a time of 31:55, followed by Brendan Archer who crossed the finish line in 32:48.

Nitin Daya ran a time of 34:13, followed by Sibusiso Dlangalala’s 34:57 and Vusamahlubi Hadebe’s 37:06.

Nombuso Siwela ended the 5km in 37:38, while Elmien Vermaak registered 42:05, Dina Oberholzer 42:36 and Hendrik Slinger 44:13.

The parkrun is a free event and gives participants the chance to either run, jog or walk. Altogether three athletes improved their times and one newcomer arrived.

Catherine le Roux, Charl van Wyk, Elna Vermaak, Gerhardus le Roux, Johannes Vosloo, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Lydia Roets, Preyanka Dorasamy, Renette de Sousa,

Séan Jansen van Rensburg, Willy Smith and Zeldine Strydom took up positions to ensure a safe and smooth event.
