The Rising Star Gymnastics Club set to uplift the Bronkhorstspruit community

As in the whole of South Africa, the Covid-19 pandemic also had a devastating impact on sports and sport facilities in and around Bronkhorstspruit.
The Watercress Gymnastics Club was one of these facilities, which in the hands of Luitha de Jager and her team, did commendable work over many years.
The club facilitated many young gymnasts from Bronkhorstspruit to participate in provincial as well as national competitions.
However, the club had to close their doors due to the many hardships that came with the pandemic. Coaches Rika van Wyk, Janine van Wyk and Banele Maduna then decided to begin a new club in Bronkhorstspruit.

The Rising Star Gymnastics Club opened its doors in April. The club operates from the hall of Ubuhle Christian School on the corner of the R25 Bronkhorstspruit and Kia Manzi Road to Bronkhorstbaai.
Rising Star coaches teach gymnastics to all Ubuhle Christian School learners during school hours and are open in the afternoons to all pre-school, primary school and high school learners of Bronkhorstspruit and surrounding townships.
The club offers pre-school, pre-level, level one to four and above coaching. They are registered with Gymnastics South Africa and will facilitate inter-club, provincial and national competitions.
The coaches have been trained by Gymnastics South Africa. The club’s practice times are on Monday and Wednesday for beginners from 14:30 until 15:30 and intermediate/advanced gymnasts from 15:00 – 17:00.

Transport is also available between the school and Bronkhorstspruit town. Anyone is welcome to join the Rising Stars.
