More than 50 take part in ­run in Standerton

Siyabonga Kamhelo completed the distance in a time of 18:23 with Sifiso Siphamandla closely behind, finishing in 18:24.

A total of 54 participants braved the weather on Saturday, May 28 to take on the 5km at the Standerton River Park.

They waited in swirling mist for the countdown at 8:00 from run director, Renette de Sousa.

De Sousa thanked the volunteers for their part in ensuring a smooth event and urged more volunteers to come forward.

Siyabonga Kamhelo completed the distance in a time of 18:23 with Sifiso Siphamandla closely behind, finishing in 18:24.

Mbuso Mazibuko crossed the finish line in 22:39, followed by Junior Mudau in 26:04 and Londani Mashila in 27:21.

A total of eight personal best times were achieved and one first-timer joined.

Christelle Handford, Hugh Robertson, Johannes Vosloo, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Marjorie Uys, Preyanka Dorasamy, Rishan Ramsaroop, Séan Jansen van Rensburg, Sylvy Moodley and Theo Schönfeldt took their positions in facilitating a safe event.
