Cricket at oval in Standertoon is red-hot

Bethal Bears could only manage 162/5 on the scoreboard after 20 overs and Standerton won the match by 21 runs.

Two matches were played at the Piet van den Berg-oval on Sunday, October 10 where the home teams came out victorious.

In the first match at 8;49, Standerton CC 1 took on Highveld Bethal Bears and clinched a victory of 183/2 after 20 overs.

Bethal Bears could only manage 162/5 on the scoreboard after 20 overs and Standerton won the match by 21 runs.

Bethal Bears opted to bowl first.

The home team’s PJ Venter scored 97 (57), Werner Mouton 35 (24) and Kai Daniel 32 (24).

Bowlers De Wet Burger, Daan Coetzer and Francois du Preez kept the batsmen busy with results of 1/15, 1/37 and 0/15 respectively.

Corrie Greyvenstein of Bethal Bears scored 71 (34), De Wet Burger 51 (41) and Kobus Swart 15 (12).

The home teams Bowlers Stiaan Ackerman managed 2/11, Werner Mouton 2/35 and Henre Naude 1/17.

In the second match at 12:53, Highveld Ermelo Warriors 1 and Standerton CC 1 took on each other with a win of seven wickets for the home team.

On the scoreboard the results reflected 113/5 after 20 overs for Ermelo Warriors and Standerton 116/3 after 15,4 overs.

Riaan Jansen of Ermelo scored 41 (35), Juan Swart 26 (41) and Nels Visser14 (14).

Carus Janse van Rensburg bowled 1/13, Werner Mouton 1/19 and Jan -Dirk van Dyk 1/20.

Kai Daniel scored 67 (52), Jacques Smith 25 (15) and Carus Janse van Rensburg 18 (16).

Michael van Niewenhuizen bowled 2/18, Zuan Swart 1/12 and Wynand Geel 0/13.
