Secunda’s Betsie Bornman is Mpumalanga bowls champ

Mpumalanga West veteran champ, Koos Jonker, clinched a third place at the provincial veterans’ single champs which took place at the Sasol Club in Secunda.

SECUNDA – Betsie Bornman from Sasol Secunda Bowls Club was crowned the Mpumalanga women’s single open champ this weekend.

She won the provincial tournament that took place in Ermelo on Saturday and Sunday, 22 and 23 May.

Her teammate and coach, Lanie Nel, competed in the men’s singles open.

Nel, who is the Mpumalanga West champion, had an unlucky first game and missed out on the finals with only two points. He ended in fourth place after a played out against Francois Hanekom from White River.

Lappies Labuschagne, Sasol Secunda’s chairman, secured a fourth place.
