Secunda Stars loses opening match against Mbombela

Mr Sibanyoni is appealing to local players to join the Stars.

eMBALENHLE – Secunda Stars played its first away ABC Motsepe log match against Mbombela City at Kanyamazane Stadium in Nelspruit and lost 0-1 on Saturday, 6 March.

Secunda Stars were beaten wearing their new soccer kit. These were unveiled by the team’s chairman, Mr Fanyana Sibanyoni.

Mr Sibanyoni always bets on home games rather than away games and said if they win away, it become a bonus.

The Secunda Stars are playing home in the Risko Fakude Stadium at eMbalenhle this coming weekend, 13 March.

They will face the BTM Sports Football Club. The kickoff is at 3pm.

“Last year we ended at number six with four games at hand. I believe if the games were never stopped, we would have been the ABC Motsepe League champions of the 2019/2020 season,” said Mr Sibanyoni.

Mr Sibanyoni is appealing to local players to come and participate because he is worried that Secunda Stars will be dominated by talent from outside Govan Mbeki Municipality.

“We have only five players who are local residents. The rest are from other provinces and even from outside the country.”

He said although parents are willing, the children are not coming forth to be part of the team.
