Da Vinci’s in Bethal kicks off with MPCS blackball league

Players from Bethal, eMzinoni, Hendrina, Ermelo and Secunda are competing for the chance to be selected for trials at provincial level.

BETHAL – Da Vinci’s Pool Club kicked off with the official MPCS blackball league on 14 January in Bethal.

Players from Bethal, eMzinoni, Hendrina, Ermelo and Secunda are competing for the chance to be selected for trials at provincial level.

Contestants can qualify for U/23, opens, masters, women and senior categories.

The league is played in a double round robin-format which means that players face each other twice during the league.

At first sight the league is very competitive with players such as Shane Nolan, Sylvia Pieterse, Jean Vos, Frans Muller, Ayanda Thabethe, Mduduzi Mahlangu and international player Jacobus le Roux.

With all the big names in this league one should not forget the up and coming players such as Sandile Thwala, Makhosi Zulu, Andile Zulu and Cecilia Vos.

Some of the players definitely possess the skills to upset a big name or two which makes for some interesting pool to come.

“Currently, Da Vinci’s Pool Club is the only fully operational pool club in the Gert Sibande District providing players the opportunity to compete at such a high level,” said Mr Jo van den Berg.

“For this we thank Bethal Golf Club for providing us with a suitable venue and the players who compete in the events for adhering to all Covid regulations.”
