Tennis Academy scouts for talent at Laerskool Kalie de Haas

This programme seeks to scout for talent within the school as well as beyond and during the visit of the Standerton Advertiser, the excitement was obvious.

Mr Mathew Khumalo of the MK Tennis Academy in Standerton took time off from coaching to speak about an idea, which was brought to fruition, at Laerskool Kalie de Haas recently.

The necessary discussions with the principal and parents’ involvement about a school development programme led to a biggish group of young learners at the court.

This programme seeks to scout for talent within the school as well as beyond.

“There is potential and I could identify a few children with ball-sense.”

According to Mr Khumalo, they would be able to be recreational tennis players and some parents had already contacted him to enroll their children in the academy.

The academy’s vision does not stop there since they would like to expand to schools in Sakhile.

“The school programme is offered at a minimum cost,” he concluded.
