Sailors take part in Summer Regatta at Trichardtsfontein Dam
Craig van Deventer wins regatta
TRICHARDT – Members of the Highveld Sailing Club took to the water on Saturday, 15 February and Sunday, 16 February during their Summer Regatta and Craig van Deventer was the overall winner.
The sailors enjoyed an entire weekend not only of sailing, but they also watched a movie outside on Saturday night and had a hamburger evening.
Eugene Thornhill finished second in the regatta, Sean Boyley third, Jasper Coetzee fourth, Frikkie Fourie fifth and Juandré Landman sixth.
Mr Pieter Blaauw from the club said they had an excellent weekend of sailing. The 11 boats that took part in the regatta completed 10 races.
Coetzee showed great skill on the first day of sailing. He took four first places and was well on his way to win the regatta, but he did not sail on the second day.
Van Deventer surprised everyone with a first place in the second race and two second places on the first day of sailing and three first places on the second day.
Boyley was consistent in all the races and thus was awarded with a third place overall.
Mr Blaauw invited interested young sailors to join them on their next race, the Autumn Regatta on 4 and 5 April at Trichardtsfontein Dam.
