Evander Athletics Club committee plans new things

Club invites new members to join them

EVANDER – The Evander Athletics Club (EAC), formerly known as Evander Gold Mine, recently held an awards evening in celebration of the new vision which is to be a dynamic and outstanding club among social running clubs.

This club’s membership has increased from 21 members in 2018 to 65 members this year.

A new committee was chosen during the awards ceremony and the new chairman is Mr Mxolisi Nhlapho.

The other committee members are Mr Tsholofetso Mothibi (organiser), Ms Sithembile Makhobhothi (treasurer), Mr John Dlamini (team captain), Ms Patricia Molise (secretary), Ms Thandi Sithole (deputy secretary) and Mr David Maponya (team coach).

As part of their social responsibility, the club announced its newly formed relationship with Evander High School and its support towards athletes.

The aim of the new committee is to take the club to new heights.

The club is hosting a time trail every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

The committee is planning on hosting a gender violence awareness 5km run in December and a 3-in-1 marathon in August next year.
