Sasol’s U/19-team plays against Piet Retief

Spectators are welcome to support young cricket players

SECUNDA – The Sasol Henleo Strikers of the Sasol Cricket Club played and lost against eMbalenhle in the elimination game on Saturday, 25 May.

The Sasol Henleo Strikers made 174 runs in their 50 overs and Pieter van Niekerk top scored with 32 runs.

Sasol lost the match with four wickets.

Wian van den Berg took two wickets for 31 runs in 10 overs.

The Sasol Henleo U/15-team played against the Witbank Snipers at the Sasol Recreation Club on Sunday, 26 May and also lost their game in the Mpumalanga finals.

The Snipers won the toss and were bowled out for 150 runs.

They lost by six runs.

Zak van Antwerpen took three wickets for 21 runs in nine overs and Marco du Toit top scored with 55 runs.

Mr Ignus Koekemoer of Sasol Cricket Club said the Sasol Henleo U/19-team made history on Sunday when they played against the Bethal Bears U/19-team and scored 506 runs for three wickets in 50 overs.

Johan van Antwerpen scored a record of 384 runs not out with an innings that included 67 boundaries.

Sasol bowled Bethal out for 136 runs and Nicolien Janse van Rensburg took five wickets for 21 runs in eight overs.

Marius Anthonnisen of the Bethal Bears managed to make 54 runs.

Sasol Henleo U/19 team will be playing against Piet Retief this Sunday, 2 June at the Sasol Recreation Club.

Mr Koekemoer thanked everyone that was involved at Sasol Cricket Club for a great season.

He also thanked the parents for giving the club the opportunity to work with their children as well as their sponsors that include Henleo and Eyegame Optometrists.
