Junior polocrosse players flock to Bethal for Junior Classics

According to the chairman of the Bethal Club, Mr Gert van der Merwe, the Junior Classics was attended by national scouts who will eventually choose players for two South African teams that will compete in Britain and Africa respectively later this year

BETHAL – Young polocrosse players throughout South Africa flocked to the Bethal Polocrosse Club this past weekend from 10 to 12 May for the Junior Classics tournament.

Kids U/19 were invited to take part in this tournament with each player being placed in a team according to his or her handicap.

The teams then played two games each throughout the course of Saturday until the top teams were left to compete on Sunday.

According to the chairman of the Bethal Club, Mr Gert van der Merwe, the Junior Classics was attended by national scouts who will eventually choose players for two South African teams that will compete in Britain and Africa respectively later this year.

The Bethal Polocrosse Club spiced up the event with an invitational tournament for A Division players from other clubs, as well as a practice event for the Hi-Girls team that represents South Africa at international events.
