Sasol 1 Cricket team beats Snipers in semi-finals of Premier league

Local team tackles Nelspruit in finals this Sunday

SECUNDA – Sasol 1 cricket team will play in the Mpumalanga Premier League’s final match after they beat the Snipers of Witbank with eight runs in the semi-final on Sunday, 10 March at the Sasol Recreation Club.

Sasol managed to make 182 runs on Sunday.

Ignus Koekemoer of Sasol Cricket Club, said Sasol was in big trouble with being five down for only 69 runs, before Siya Mahima and Douglas Richardson of Sasol set up a partnership of 64 runs.

Sasol managed to score 181 runs all out in 47.2 overs.

Koekemoer said in return the Snipers had a solid opening stand of 92 runs before Mahima made a breakthrough.

“Ruhan Delport had an amazing spell of bowling, taking five wickets for 35 runs in his 10 overs,” said Koekemoer.

Sasol bowled the Snipers out for 173 runs in the 49th over.

Koekemoer thanked the Snipers on behalf of Sasol 1 for a wonderful game of cricket and said it was a pleasure hosting them.

“Sasol will be seeking to make it a double after winning the T20 competition in November last year.

“We are looking forward to the challenge of travelling to Nelspruit and taking on a very strong Nelspruit team on their home field.”
