Athletes compete in 10km Valentine’s Night Race

Many learners from local schools took part in the fun run/walk.

SECUNDA – KS Khanye won the open men’s category of the 10km Valentine’s Night Race that took place at the Sasol Recreation Club on Wednesday, 6 February.
Khanye’s time was 33 min 15 sec.

JB Vilakaze finished second in 33 min 18 sec and M Mokoena finished third in 33 min 21 sec.

N Ncongwane was the first woman to cross the finish line in a time of 47 min 45 sec while ZC Dlamini finished second in 50 min 42 sec and Lilian Veldman third in 51 min 10 sec.

EW Hlatswayo won the junior men’s category in 35 min 15 sec and Simon Sibisi won the men’s category for 40 and older in 36 min 14 sec, while Marietjie Lombard was the first woman of 40 and older to cross the finish line in 52 min 32 sec.

In the category of runners of 50 and older, Kobus Roets was the first man to cross the finish line in 40 min 5 sec, and P Jensen was the first woman and finished the race in 54 min 18 sec.

In the category of runners of 60 and older, Gideon Radebe was the first man and finished the race in 41 min 10 sec, while Beaty Khubeka was the first woman and finished the race in 58 min 14 sec.

Many learners from local schools took part in the fun run/walk.
