The Children of the Dawn Ermelo Centre hosted their counterparts from QwaQwa and Pretoria in a frontball tournament at the Mpumalanga Stadium on Tuesday, 4 December.
Frontball is a sport gaining momentum at the Children of the Dawn centres around the country, with their children representing South Africa in tournaments around the world.
Frontball originated in the South of France to federate all international practices of games played with a ball, by hand, against a wall.
Children of the Dawn and frontball joined forces to open the first club on the African continent in QwaQwa.
The Ermelo Centre joined the fray and has produced world champions who have competed on the international stage in countries such as France and Mexico.
Teams from QwaQwa and Pretoria brought the competitive spirit on the day, giving the Ermelo players a battle to remember.
The Pretoria contingent won three of the four finals contested in the Junior Girls, Boys and Senior Boys category.
However, Nokwazi Motha did the Ermelo Centre proud when she walked away with the trophy in the Senior Girls final.
The winners of the tournament will represent South Africa in France next year.
Children of the Dawn is based in Wesselton at the Thuthukani Community Centre and is a non-profit organisation that takes care of vulnerable children by engaging them in after-school programmes.
