Dos Reis wins EDPC shoot

Shooters compete in five stages that are set up in exactly the same way at clubs across the country.

Ermelo Defensive Pistol Club (EDPC) held their annual Postal Shoot at the Vlakfontein shooting range on Saturday. 28 shooters from EDPC competed in this exciting but challenging event.

A Postal Shoot is held separately by all clubs affiliated to the South African Defensive Pistol Association (SADPA).

Shooters compete in five stages that are set up in exactly the same way at clubs across the country and scores are forwarded to a central point where a ranking list is compiled. The overall results will be announced later in the year.

EDPC’s overall winner for the day was Johnny dos Reis with a time of 120.37sec. He was closely followed by CJ Marais with a time of 125.37 and Christo Botha in third place with a time of 129.22.

Other competitors in the top ten positions are Gert Janse van Rensburg, Paul van Niekerk, Ernst Janse van Rensburg, Willem-Jan Human, John Smith, Pieter Steyn and Heino Volker.

The next competition will be in March when EDPC will host a handgun league-shoot. Anyone interested in joining this exciting sport can visit www.edpc.co.za

EDPC has announced that the club’s CEO, Vivian Whatley, has been nominated for the position of Director of Matches and competitions in SADPA’s Executive Committee.

“EDPC is proud of Vivian’s nomination and we trust that he will deservedly be elected to this prestigious and important position,” said the chairman of EDPC, Gert Janse van Rensburg.
