Bethal Bulldogs crushes eMbalenhle 2

BETHAL – Bethal Bulldogs Cricket Club beat eMbalenhle 2 by 114 runs recently during a much anticipated Promotion League match at Sasol Recreation Club in eMba.

Regular rain over the past few weeks meant it was both teams’ first match in a while.

Bethal Bulldogs won the toss and its captain, Francois Buys, decided to back his batsmen to set a winning total.

They got off to a flying start with Thinus Strydom and Tesslon Crouch batting aggressively.

Strydom with 55 runs was the Bulldogs’ best batsman and Dominique Boyce contributed with a quick 48 runs off only 13 balls.

Bethal Bulldogs ended their innings on 203/4.

Arno Buys had a great start with the ball in his hand and took a wicket in the first over of eMba?’s innings.

eMba 2 struggled from then on.

Bethal Bulldogs’ best bowlers were Arno Buys with 2/10 in four overs and Mbasa Poyana with 2/6 in four overs.

eMbalenhle 2 ended their innings on 89/7.

This ensured a bonus point victory for the Bethal Bulldogs.

Like the Bethal Bears in the Premier League, Bethal Bulldogs ended the first half of the season on top of the Highveld Promotion League log.
