Sasol 1 beats Sasol 2 in wet conditions

SECUNDA – Sasol 1 Cricket Club beat Sasol 2 on Saturday during a match that was reduced to 38 overs.

The match only began at 11.45am due to the weather.

Sasol 1 won the toss and decided to bat first to try and take advantage of the wet conditions.

They however suffered an early collapse.Johan Scheepers and Andre Allerston steadied the boat with 49 and 51 runs respectively.

Dodds van Zyl contributed with 22 not out to guide Sasol 1 to 207 for nine in the 38 overs.

Dylan Niemand from Sasol 2 stood out with the ball with figures of three for 38 in his eight overs.

Sasol 2 looked in good nick following there good running score in the previous weeks, with JD van Dyk and Jaco Joubert each making 43 runs to help their side.

Sasol 2 however fell short of the target after a dominant bowling display by Sasol 1 at the death of the match to restrict Sasol 2 to 185 all out.

Dewald Erasmus from Sasol 1 was the pick of the bowlers with four for 30 in six overs.

Grant Truter took a wicket for 16 runs in his six overs, while Johan Scheepers put his mark on the match with the ball with three for 38 in eight overs.

Sasol 1 will take on eMbalenhle next in eMbalenhle, while Sasol 2 will take on Bethal at Sasol.
