The family of Mr Hamid Danka wrote the following tribute to him:
Deeply contemplative, a poet at heart, a true gentleman and unapologetically honest, Mr Abdool Hamid Danka was indeed the spice of life for all who had the pleasure of truly knowing him and understanding his character.
He cared for the man on the street as much as he cared for his family.
His generosity knew no limits. His passing on 20 April, the 7th day of our Holy month of Ramadaan, is testament to the love and grace The Almighty has granted him.
His sense of humour was unmatched.
Always happy to crack a joke, he kept people rolling with laughter, entertaining young and old with his boisterous wit.
Mr Danka will always be fondly remembered as the man of Bilal’s Takeaways, his life’s work and passion for food & service.
The tastes that made every one of his many customers, from all walks of life, admire and love a legend of our modern day world.
He will be dearly missed by his family, staff and friends and the many people whose lives and hearts he had touched with his kindness and generosity.
He is survived by his wife, Rabia and his four children, Bilal, Zaheer, Hafeeza and Asma.
May Allah grant him the highest abode in paradise and fill his resting place with light, Aameen.
