The world today is in constant turmoil and chaos.
We live our lives not knowing what tomorrow holds.
Young girls are in pursuit of money, following every Tom, Dick and Harry that invites them to do so.
Young men, also in pursuit of the same, are involved in fraudulent acts all in the name of getting a decent job.
In fact, everyone is fighting a losing battle against the demands of this world and their inner selves, although many do not realise it, we are in search of rest, fulfillment and purpose.
You wish someone could just “find you” and tell you that everything will be okay.
There is hope!
The book of Isaiah:36 best describes the world’s situation now.
There was war, the people of God were panicking, afraid of what would befall Jerusalem.
Prophets were being bribed to forget the Word of God sent to them (Isaiah 36:10); this was what the Lord said: “Go up against this land and destroy it”, now mind you, the king of the land that the Lord was referring to was king Assyria.
This king had never lost a battle against any nation in his lifetime, as king he was equipped with all the weapons needed for war… horses and horsemen, but the people of Jerusalem only had the Word of God as ammunition.
A certain man in king Assyria’s nation was called the “Rabshakeh” meaning “carrier of the king’s words” (king Assyria’s words), this Rabshakeh was bent on discouraging the people of Jerusalem and destroying their trust in the Lord (Isaiah 36: 8).
He promised them exactly what they were in need of, which was weapons for war.
The people began to doubt the Lord because of the words of the Rabshakeh.
Most of us are in situations similar to that of the people of Jerusalem, but I would like to encourage you through the words that the Lord spoke to the people in their dilemma, “Go up against the land and destroy it”.
Part ‘a’ of this’ statement is an action and part ‘b’ is a fulfillment, meaning for you to be able to destroy or overcome what’s in front of you, you first need the courage and to have enough faith in God to go up against it.
Don’t try to do it on your own – with your own strength, put all your faith in the Lord, go against it and He will do the rest.
Sometimes the battle seems too big or there are too many people who, like the Rabshakeh are discouraging you telling you not to let the Word of God fool you, God says “Go up against it” …not because it’s easy, but because the Lord has commanded you to do so and when the Lord has said it, no one can come against it …you are bound for victory.
