I have been a Secunda resident for nearly 25 years now and the state of this lovely town is depleting.
The services which you came to be comfortable with, are just no longer here.
I can name many situations where you enter into a chain store, of which there are many throughout the country, where they have goods on display at a very good selling price.
Sadly, the item on the floor on display is the only item they have in the store.
What is the purpose for this?
If I want to buy a certain product at a very good mentioned price, then that is the product which I want to buy, not any other products which I do not need.
The perception I have is that they advertise these items to be available at a set good price and when they do not have these items, the customers will buy something else instead.
To the store manager: when you place an advertisement in the local newspaper, please have your stock ready or do not place the advertisement at all.
I know for a fact that I am not the only person in Secunda who have encountered these problems at certain stores.
Other service providers like car dealerships, caravan dealers, furniture stores, fast food outlets and the road house, these are also up to no good with their client services.
When will these people begin to understand that we as the public pay their salaries at the end of the month?
When you have a request with a service provider, you expect to get what you are going to pay for.
Not in Secunda.
There are so many people out there who badmouth Secunda and this is due to the fact that the service in our town is going from bad to non existing.
At many stores in town, you cannot complain about the service in the store, because how can you complain about something which is not there?
“If they do not have stock of the items which you are looking for, please give us your name, contact details and we will call once we have got the stock.”
In this matter, I think that my contact details are with so many store managers that if they all will have to call me, I will be busy for a day.
I am driving a leading German vehicle and I take my vehicle to Boksburg to get serviced.
I have learned with my previous vehicle of the same make, to not take my vehicle to the service centre in Secunda.
As for the caravan service centre, I have asked them for a quotation to be done on my caravan, this was at the beginning of August last year.
Up to date, I still did not get the requested quotation.
I took my caravan to a service centre in Springs.
They gave me a quotation within 10 minutes.
I have been at the local roadhouse for fast food on many occasions in the times that I am staying in Secunda.
I have seen the roadhouse grow and expand to what and where it is today.
Of late, when you go to the road house, busy or not, you sometimes have to wait to place your order for up to 20 minutes.
While you are waiting to place your order, you are pestered by the beggars on the premises.
Now after a more recent event, on 16 December at around 8.15pm, in the drive through section of the roadhouse, there were people in their parked vehicles having a ball of a party with Brandy and Coke I may add.
I called the roadhouse and asked to speak to the manager on duty.
I complained about the loud music and the consumption of alcohol in their driveway.
His respondse was that he could not do anything about it.
Now my question on this one is: “Whose driveway are they parked in?”
The reason why there are so many people in this town without work begging on the streets are that there are many residents in this town who, like myself, will take my money and I will spend it where I get service with a smile and value for my hard-earned money.
Why would I spend a cent here and not get what I required in the first place?
I have been to Boksburg on 16 December and I saw so many people from Secunda there that it looked like Secunda was moved.
I know why these people go to places like Boksburg; it is because of a lack of service, or rather no service.
Store managers at chain stores in the new grand mall, shape up or ship out.
One more point.
Who gave the people from the towing services the right to drive like maniacs on the roads in and around town?
Just the other day a tow truck driver from a local towing service nearly drove me off the road.
When I honked the horn at him, he showed me some inappropriate hand signals and honked back.
Who gives these people the right to drive like this and to treat others with such disrespect?
Secunda is one of the richer towns in the country and we as residents in this town need to be able to spend our money here to grow our town to be better.
How can we do that if we do not get the service we need?
Just some points for the greater Secunda community to take into consideration when visiting the business sections in our town.
