Cllr Nkosi resigns from ruling party

Mr Nkosi have not stated the reasons why he left the ANC

eMBALENHLE – Mr John Nkosi, ANC Ward 31 councillor, has resigned and quit the ANC.

Mr Nhlakanipho Zuma, Speaker of council, confirmed the resignation and said by-elections will be held in the ward after the national election.

He said the municipality will follow the necessary procedures in declaring a vacancy and will soon communicate this to the residents.

Mr Nkosi told the Echo that he has joined a new political party, African Transformation Movement (ATM).

He played a prominent role as one of the ANC’s 12 councillors who have been calling for the removal of the executive mayor, Ms Thandi Ngxonono.

Mr Nkosi said he will soon communicate about the role he will be playing in the new party, however, the newspaper was reliably informed that Mr Nkosi has been elected as the provincial chairman for the party.

He said he will soon issue a press release and indicate his reasons for leaving the ANC.
