Three people die in accident on N17 near Trichardt

According to emergency workers on the scene, the deceased were burnt beyond recognition.

A head-on collision between a minibus taxi and a light delivery vehicle this afternoon (July 6) near Brunfelsia on the N17 highway between Trichardt and Bethal left three people dead.

 

The driver of the light vehicle and two of the passengers in the taxi died.

 

 

According to emergency workers on the scene, the deceased were burnt beyond recognition.

 

The Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Jackie Macie called on motorists to exercise due care.

 

He said as the school will reopen soon many people will be on the road this weekend, they should do so with heightened caution to avoid death and injury resulting from road crashes.

 

“Drivers must play their part by obeying the rules and being vigilant every time they sit behind the steering wheels,” said Macie.

 

“Most accidents are avoidable all that is needed is due diligence on all road users.”
