Storm hits Cullinan and rest of Tshwane

The hail storm left damage to several houses and trees in its wake.

A storm hit Cullinan and other parts of the City of Tshwane on February 20, leaving a trail of destruction as houses were blown away, trees collapsed over roads, and many residents were left without electricity.

Residents in certain areas of Cullinan also experienced flooding and damage to property. The roofs of three houses were blown off and many yards were water-locked.

The storm which brought strong wind and hail, uprooted trees and in some areas, branches have fallen on the road or on overhead power lines, causing a power trip.

EMS spokesperson deputy chief Charles Mabaso said in Cullinan and Refilwe, multiple shacks and three houses were blown away.

“No one was injured and disaster management officials are conducting further assessments to determine the total number of households affected,” said Mabaso.
