Independent fighters join Hapkido seminar in Cullinan

Taekwon-do martial arts students have graded as second-degree black belts.

Three Cullinan black belts in Taekwon-do attended the hapkido seminar and grading held on February 3 and 4 in Cullinan.

Boo sabum-nim (BSB) Svetlana Zalevskaya, boo sabum-nim (BSB) Alexander Grobler and sabum-nim (SBM) Manie Naudé are independent athletes who joined ATC Cullinan and ATC Rayton dojangs at the hapkido seminar and gradings.

The seminar was held by the SATI Federation and grading by sixth dan sabum-nim (SBM) Sanko Lewis from Seoul, South Korea.

Zalevskaya and Grobler trained under the strict eye of Naudé, a fourth dan and world championship medalist.

Hapkido is a Korean martial art form of self-defence that employs pressure point strikes, joint locks, grappling and throwing techniques. It is also the redirection of force and energy to gain control over the opponent.

Naudé qualified for third dan black belt in hapkido while his students qualified for the first degree black belt in hapkido.

They said that it was a privilege and an inspiration to train and learn from the best in the world.

Naudé said, “I am proud of both my students’ performance during the seminar and grading.”
