Beware these fraudsters warn Boschkop SAPS

Interested individuals contact the sellers, which lure these buyers to a secluded place in the Winterveldt area and then rob them.

There has been an increase in fraud activities on social media platforms where vehicles, ice cream machines and electronic devices are advertised as being sold at a fraction of the value.

Sergeant Yeroboam Mbatsane from the Boschkop SAPS said, “Interested individuals contact the sellers, which lure these buyers to a secluded place in the Winterveldt area close to Loate and Rietgat, in the Northern parts of Tshwane.

“A young boy is also used to meet unsuspecting buyers to inform them the meeting place has changed and lure them to the secluded meeting places.”

Victims have fallen prey to robberies, and in some cases, lost their lives.

Mbatsane advised that all purchases are done from reputed and well-established online companies.

“If purchases are done from an unfamiliar source, make sure the price is market-related and meetings should take place in public places of your choice, such as a police station,” said Mbatsane.
