Fifty-nine participants line up for Standerton parkrun

Bongane Mpokane crossed the finish line in 19:45, followed by Kaywen Human, who recorded 20:35, a new personal best.

It was business as usual when run director Charl van Wyk did the countdown for the parkrun at 08:00 on December 9.

For the free event, 59 participants lined up at the Standerton River Park. It offers runners, joggers and walkers the chance to compete against themselves.

Bongane Mpokane crossed the finish line in 19:45, followed by Kaywen Human, who recorded 20:35, a new personal best.

Tshiamo Lephoto registered 20:36, Timothy Hoop 22:43 and Johan Ferreira 25:28 in his 50th event. Welcome Ndlangisa came in at 20:54, Wassie Rossouw at 26:50 and Delaney Grobbelaar at 27:09 in her 50th event.

Ayanda Dlamini completed the distance in 27:31, Parth Jayram in 28:17, Riaan Dippenaar in 28:25 and Pieter Grobbelaar in 28:47.

Volunteers make the parkrun possible by ensuring a smooth and safe event. They were Catherine and Gerhardus le Roux, Johannes Vosloo, Leandri van Wyk, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Marjorie Uys, Preyanka Dorasamy, Renette de Sousa, Ruwan Vermaak, Willy Smith, Wilma Kruger and Zeldine Strydom.
