Kosmos Aftree-oord in Standerton cares for more than its residents
Although there are challenges, Kosmos is grateful to the community for their continued support - not only for the big fundraising activities like the bazaar and golf day - but also to every individual, business and organisation that supports the residents daily.
Kosmos Aftree-oord is part and parcel of the Standerton community. It is an asset to the community that continually adapts to global trends by offering new and innovative services.
It is located on a hill overlooking the Vaal River and comprises several townhouses, flats, rooms and bachelor units.
Some are life-rights units, and there are also rental units in various price brackets. More importantly, it also has a frail care centre managed and staffed by qualified and experienced staff, as per the Act on Older Persons.
In 2022, one wing was renovated into assisted living units to help those who need support but can still function independently.
The frail care centre cares for long-term infirm individuals and those who need their care for shorter periods.
The global trend is for people to stay in their homes for as long as possible, where they know their environments and neighbours and can keep their pets, to name a few.
Recognising this, this year, Kosmos Aftree-oord began offering care services to individuals in their own homes in town.
The village strives to identify and provide for elderly people’s needs, mainly for those in and around Standerton.
The residents of Kosmos Aftree-oord have access to healthy meals at affordable prices, a laundry and beautiful gardens.
Various weekly activities, like Bible study and bingo, are offered, and Standerton community members host the church services, music afternoons and physical exercises.
Learners from various Standerton schools often visit the residents, host their concerts at the village, and treat the residents to refreshments and snacks.

Kosmos Aftree-oord’s goal is to serve the members of this community, not only in the village but also by offering services to Standerton community members in their homes, in line with global trends.
