Delmas Animal Shelter needs your help
“You never know when to expect the next call for a severely malnutritioned, badly hurt or abused farm animal. Our greatest wish for Christmas is feed for our farm animals that includes grass bales.”
It is the season of joy, giving and caring, but at the Delmas Animal Shelter (DAS), it is a time like all the rest.
DAS needs to feed the animals in their care daily. DAS cares not only for house pets like cats and dogs but also for farm animals they rescue from sometimes heartbreaking circumstances.
Mother and daughter team, Jolandie and Jorinda Verwey said that apart from dry dog and cat food, medicines, blankets, toys, cleaning and disinfecting supplies, bills, fuel and other utilities, they also need farm animal feed.
“Here at the shelter, we care for all sorts of farm animals, like horses, donkeys, goats, sheep and more. You never know when to expect the next call for a severely malnourished, badly injured or abused farm animal. Our greatest Christmas wish is feed for our farm animals, which includes grass bales,” said Jorinda.
“We have experienced this time of the year over and over. People go away, forget about their animals, and the animals sometimes land with us in the worst of worst conditions.”
Jolandie and Jorinda urge the public to consider sponsoring the shelter with grass bales to see them through the festive season.
“Please help us to help those who cannot help themselves. Help us to spoil an animal in need this festive season.”
