Alleged drug peddler arrested in Delmas

Upon searching the property, they seized 135 pinches of substances suspected to be heroin, 49 rocks suspected to be cocaine and one tablet suspected to be Mandrax to the street value of about R9 250.

A tipoff from a trusted source led to the arrest of one suspect from Botleng, Delmas for alleged possession of drugs.

According to the media spokesperson for the Delmas police, Captain Carla Hartley, the police received information from a whistleblower about the possibility of an illicit drug dealer who resides at a certain property in Ext 3, Botleng.

On the morning of December 8 at 03:00, members of National Crime Intelligence, Middelburg K9, Delmas SAPS and members of the AfriForum Valke Neighbourhood Watch response team visited the house in Botleng.

Upon searching the property, they seized 135 pinches of substances suspected to be heroin, 49 rocks suspected to be cocaine and one tablet suspected to be Mandrax to the street value of about R9 250, leading to the arrest of the suspect.

According to the Provincial Commissioner of the Police in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, the police will send the seized substances to forensics for further investigation.

Manamela commended the teamwork displayed during the operation and encouraged whistleblowers to keep assisting the SAPS in the fight against crime.
