Buhle Farmers’ Academy honours students

Buhle Farmers’ Academy is an NPO that trains and mentors new farmers from all over SA in the skills required to build successful and sustainable farming businesses.

Buhle again honoured their dedicated students at a graduation ceremony on November 16. It was a celebratory day, and all the hard work and dedication paid off when students received certificates and prizes.

At their campus on the R42 in Delmas, Buhle Farmers’ Academy offers students, also known in Buhle circles as agri-preneurs, a variety of holistic courses covering all the farming and management skills they need to go into a farming environment.

Buhle Farmers’ Academy is an NPO that trains, mentors and supports new and upcoming farmers from across SA to learn and develop the skills required to grow a successful and sustainable farming business.

Mandisa Ngalo acted as the programme director. Student Nanki Christine Moagi opened the proceedings with a hymn and prayer.

Zamo Shongwe welcomed the students, stakeholders, VIPs and personnel, whereafter director Nyiko Maluleke gave a thorough overview of Buhle and its activities.

After some keynote addresses by various stakeholders, a vote of thanks followed from Collins Nkosi. At last, it was time to issue certificates in the categories in which Buhle provides training, like vegetable, poultry and livestock production, among others.

The prize-giving followed, and students who performed exceptionally well in their categories received trophies and gift vouchers towards their fields of expertise. The star of Buhle award 2023 went to former student Ben Modieginyana.

He shared the story of his studies at Buhle, his small beginnings now growing into a successful farming business, and his hardships and successes.

The event ended with the national anthem, and delegates, VIPs, personnel, and students later enjoyed lunch.
