Cricket teams compete in Secunda

Sasol is on a roll in the T20 matches.

The T20 Gert Sibande Premier cricket league matches were played on Saturday, November 4, with Sasol 1 Secunda taking on Highveld Bethal Bears and Ermelo 1 Warriors and ending victorious in both their matches played.

Sasol batted first in both matches and set the target. In their first match against Highveld Bethal Bears, Sasol 1 won by 30 runs ending with a score of 186 for 6 in 20 overs. Highveld Bethal Bears were all bowled out in the 19.3 over with a score of 156-10.

In their match against Ermelo 1 Warriors, Sasol 1 elected to bat first scoring 239 runs for six wickets.The Warriors only reached 194 runs in their 20 overs. Sasol 1 thus beat the Warriors by 42 runs.

Several premier cricket teams also competed at the Sasol Cricket Club’s fields on October 28. In the first match, eMbalenhle beat the Ermelo Warriors.

Ermelo batted first and scored 131 for1 in 20 overs. eMbalenhle managed to reach the target in the 19th over, winning by five wickets.

Rian Jansen was Ermelo’s best player, making 60 runs not out. Sbusiso Nkosi was eMbalenhle’s best bowler with 1/17 in his three overs and Nhlakanipho Mosehlane was eMbalenhle’s best batsman who made 51 runs not out.

In the second match of the day, Sasol 1 faced eMbalenhle and this time Sasol 1 walked off the field victoriously. They won by 26 runs.

Sasol 1 batted first and managed 162/7. eMbalenhle only managed to make 126/8. Sasol 1’s best bowler was Vernon Fourie with 3/19 in his four overs. This win secured a bonus point for Sasol 1, which put them at the top of the log with 40 points.
