Ndimande’s attempted murder case postponed in Secunda Magistrate’s Court

Ndumiso Wisdom Ndimande will remain behind bars until his next court appearance in the Secunda Magistrates Court on November 8, for a formal bail application.

Ndumiso Wisdom Ndimande (33) appeared before Magistrate Faith Kekana in the Secunda Magistrate’s Court on November 1 on two charges of attempted murder.

The magistrate postponed the case to November 8 for his formal bail application. Ndimande remains in custody.

Ndimande allegedly shot his estranged traditional law wife, Nobantu Joyce Nxenye (38), in the chest and neck, and her six-year-old son Philasande Sishayo, who sustained a bullet wound to his lower right leg. The incident took place in Fraser Street in Secunda at around 20:30 on October 26.

The couple allegedly had a heated argument at the time. Ndimande allegedly threatened Nxenye’s 19-year-old and 15-year-old sons, also at home during the time of the shooting, that they would be shot the next day.

Philasande was wounded when he ran to his mother’s aid where she was on the floor at the entrance to the main bedroom of her townhouse.

He was treated at Mediclinic Highveld.

The police confirmed Nxenye had been shot about eight times and was admitted to the intensive care unit at Witbank Hospital. She was transferred back to Evander Hospital.

According to the police, she is in a stable condition.

On the evening of the shooting, Ndimande fled the scene in a white Toyota Avanza. The police issued a warning to the public that Ndimande who allegedly still had his 9mm pistol with him, was not to be confronted but rather urgently contact the police.

Ndimande, still on the run since the night of the shooting, made contact with his lawyer in Nelspruit.

The lawyer contacted the Secunda detectives on October 30 saying Ndimande was willing to surrender.

The duo drove from Nelspruit to Secunda where Ndimande was arrested on the same day after reporting to the Secunda Police Station just before 18:00.
