Walk for freedom in Secunda

Take a stand against human trafficking.

The A21 Walk for Freedom will take place in Secunda on October 14. The event organiser, Nadia Heyns, said it was the first time since 2019 that they could again host it.

The aim of the A21 global NPO is to fight human trafficking and slavery and create awareness.

A21’s founders and volunteers believe in a free world for everyone and that every step they take locally leaves footprints globally.

“We will walk to disrupt the existence of slavery, shaking its very foundation with each step,” said Heyns.

Human trafficking is the illegal trade of human beings and includes the recruitment, control and use of people for their bodies or labour.

According to A21’s website, there are 40.3m people enslaved globally right now. Of this 40.3m, about 71% are women, 29% are men and 25% are children.

The A21 Walk for Freedom will kick off at 09:00 at Secunda Mall, and people can register there between 08:00 and 08:50 or register online.

The 3km walk will end at Secunda Mall at about 11:30.
