Bronkhorstspruit bikers host event to help one of their own

Desiree van der Westhuizen was paralysed in a quadbike accident and needs money for a stem cell implant.

Bikers from Bronkhorstspruit took part in a national women’s ride on August 9, which was open for both men and women bikers.

About 50 bikers set off from Soetdoring in Bronkhorstspruit at 10:30 and ended in Que Sera in Pretoria where the Mpumalanga riders met up with other bikers.

The event was organised to raise money for Desiree van der Westhuizen who was injured in a quadbike accident in 2020.

Desiree (35) was left paralysed from her chest down. The event was a countrywide event open to all bikers who wanted to join.

Chantelle Pieterse from the Mac’s Familia 1313 Bronkhorstspruit Ladies organised the event. She thanked their sponsors and supporters.

She also thanked the 1313 Mac’s Familia who joined from towns throughout the country such as George, Middelburg, Durban, Pretoria, Klerksdorp, Cape Town, Garden Route and Boksburg to help Desiree.

Bikers got together at Soetdoring before heading to Que Sera.

Response teams from Bronkhorstspruit that were present, were Ara Towing, First Care, Pro towing, Kapanga and AfriForum.

Pieterse said the day was a success and everyone made it home safe.

The money collected will help pay for Desiree’s medical fees so she receives a stem cell implant and have a chance of moving again.
