GMM water tank collapses after installation
The water tank was installed at the municipal offices then it was filled with water before it collapsed.
The newly installed water tank at the Govan Mbeki Municipality offices in the Secunda Central Business District collapsed, and water spilt all over the town centre last week.
The water tank was filled with water shortly before it collapsed. Donald Green, acting municipal spokesperson, said it was an unfortunate incident.
“The municipality is busy installing water tanks at all its regional offices to ensure services will not be interrupted during water-shedding.”
Green said the municipality had to close its offices when there is no water. Installing water tanks will ensure services are uninterrupted.
