Suspected drug dealer appears in Standerton Magistrate’s Court

Police identified the suspect and found on him about 99 sachets of suspected nyaope, weighing about 72g, two sachets of suspected crystal meth, weighing about 14g and seven sachets of suspected cat, weighing about 18g.

Nigerian Emeka Moscow Ani (50) was remanded in custody after his court appearance and arrest for dealing drugs.

According to a statement from the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Ani appeared in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court on July 28.

Police found an assortment of suspected substances with a street value of about R15 000. He will appear before the same court on August 4.

According to the police report, the SAPS and the Ermelo K9 Unit followed up on information gathered by Standerton Crime Intelligence about a man suspected of dealing drugs on July 27 at about 11:30.

According to information, the suspect drove a silver Hyundai Atos and was in the central business district in Standerton.

The police confiscated the drugs and vehicle for further investigation. Police are working with the Department of Home Affairs to ascertain his status in SA.

The provincial commissioner of the SAPS, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, said police would continue working with communities to address drug peddling.

Manamela said they were successful in various areas of the province, including Standerton. She urged the public to inform the authorities about drug trafficking.
