Come rain or shine, parkrun proceeds at Standerton River Park

Bongane Mpokane and Tshiamo Lephoto ran strongly towards the finish line, registering times of 19:12 and 19:13, respectively.

Altogether, 38 die-hards took on the parkrun after run director Renette de Sousa did the countdown on July 15 at 08:00.

They were out of the blocks at the Standerton River Park in weather conditions fit for a polar bear, swirling mist coupled with freezing temperatures.

Bongane Mpokane and Tshiamo Lephoto ran strongly toward the finish line, clocking 19:12 and 19:13, respectively.

Theo Schönfeldt came in at 27:08, while Thikolelwi Mudau recorded 33:29 in his 50th event.



Patricia Mudau also completed her 50th and crossed the line in 34:13, followed by Dina Oberholzer’s 34:44 and Andrew Ainsworth’s 34:45.

Sibusiso Dlangalala recorded 34:55, Nombuso Siwela 38:06, Danie Human 40:16, Elmien Vermaak 40:17 and Motsamayi Radebe 41:34.

This free event over 5km offers athletes, joggers and walkers the chance to compete against themselves and volunteers at various spots on the route to ensure a smooth and safe parkrun.

Frans Vermaak, Johannes Vosloo, Lydia Roets, Marjorie Uys, Nitin Daya, Parth Jayram, Preyanka Dorasamy, Ruwan Vermaak, Willy Smith and Zeldine Strydom took up positions accordingly.
