Water levels at Grootdraai Dam drop to 93.6%

Mpumalanga recorded an average drop from 98.6% to 98.1%.

Dams in the Gert Sibande District decreased in water levels.

The Department of Water and Sanitation urged the public to continue using the available water wisely and sparingly, even though water levels still look good with most dams in the region of 80 – 100%.

South Africa is a water-scarce country and every drop counts as water has no substitute.

According to the weekly state of reservoirs report, dated June 26, the majority of listed dams in the district recorded drops in water levels.

Only Vygeboom Dam remained unchanged at 100.4%

The listed dams that recorded declines in water levels include Grootdraai Dam from 95.3% to 93.6%, Nooitgedacht from 99.1% to 98.6%, Jericho from 89.2% to 88.6%, Westoe from 78.9% to 77.2%, Morgenstond from 99.5% to 99.4% and Heyshope from 100.5% to 100.1%
