Body of infant dumped in Burger Street, Standerton

Upon arrival, police called an ambulance and the baby boy was certified dead.

Standerton Police have opened an inquest after the body of an infant was dumped at the intersection of Burger and Badger streets on May 27.

According to police, someone walking in the street, collecting tins for recycling, noticed a mealie meal plastic bag.

He emptied the container and saw the baby’s body. Kasselman Security Services was driving past and police were also notified.

Upon arrival, police called an ambulance and the baby boy was certified dead.

The Local Criminal Record Centre and all role players were also summoned. The pathologist arrived and removed the body.

The police indicated there was no further information about the concealment of the birth.
