eMba police warn residents about crossing the Wellas footbridge

Mthethwa said police located the suspects and they were arrested and charged with armed robbery.

The eMbalenhle police are warning residents about crossing the Wellas footbridge, especially at night.

According to Constable Busi Mthethwa, a 30-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint when he was crossing the footbridge on Sunday night (May 7).

Mthethwa said the victim was walking on the bridge on his way from the eMba Mall to his home in Ext 22 when he encountered two men.

They pointed a gun at him and then stole his cellphone and cash. Mthethwa said the police located the suspects and they were arrested and charged with armed robbery.

She appealed to the community not to cross that footbridge bridge if they feel unsafe. They should rather use the road where they can easily get assistance if anything happens.
