Golfers to host day for charity at Graceland in Secunda

Men and women are welcome to enter the golf day in May.

The Money Gamers Golf Club, established by a group of golf players to give back to the community and focus on charity work, will host a tournament on May 20.

The second charity golf tournament will take place at Graceland Casino, Hotel and Country Club in Secunda, and anyone is welcome to enter.

Entry fees are R350 per person and include coffee and soup.

Businesses are welcome to sponsor a hole for R3 500 and use it as a marketing opportunity.

Many prizes will be up for grabs, including vouchers from Graceland that can be used for accommodation or a discount at the spa.

The day’s proceeds will be donated to charity organisations or people doing charity and welfare work, including a local soup kitchen, an orphanage and a school.

The Money Gamers is now a registered non-profit organisation.

“We want to see if we can help with renovation work at the school and the orphanage,” said Daniel Nyathela, the founder of the Money Gamers Golf Club.

Nyathela and his group also want to help young golf players who cannot afford to play with food, clothes and transport with their junior development programme.

The group of friends collected R70 000 at the first tournament.

Their target for this year is to collect between R80 000 and R100 000, which they will split between the four organisations they have identified to support.

For an extra project, they want to spend their 67 minutes on Nelson Mandela Day at the Janelle Huis or the Marietjie School for learners with special educational needs.

All golf players are welcome to join the club to be part of a good cause and enjoy some golf. Women are also welcome to join the club and the golf day in May.

The dress code for the day will be red and black or blue. For more information or to enter, contact Nyathela at 072 113 2822.
