Come rain, come shine in Standerton, parkrunners are there

Sephesihle Tshabalala, a first-timer, reached the finish line in a time of 21:30, followed by Theo Schönfeldt in 26:35.

Altogether 36 participants were ready on Saturday, March 25 to take on the 5km at the Standerton River Park.

Some came prepared with hoodies with the rain falling softly, while the run director did the honours of the countdown.

Sephesihle Tshabalala, a first-timer, reached the finish line in a time of 21:30, followed by Theo Schönfeldt in 26:35.

Parth Jayram took part in his 50th event and completed the distance in 27:18, followed by Leann Moll who achieved a ew personal best of 28:00.


Some check their watches at the parkrun on Saturday, March 25.

Jacey Moll also achieved a new personal best and clocked in at 28:03, followed by Delaney Grobbelaar in 28:50.

Vusi Mavuso participated in his 50th event with a time of 29:00, followed by Pieter Grobbelaar’s 29:01 in his 50th as well.

David Maans, a first-timer, registered a time of 31:45.

Antoinette Herbst, Charl van Wyk, Danie Human, Elna Vermaak, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Jean Robertson, Marius Kilian, Marjorie Uys, Preyanka Dorasamy, Reneilwe Tsotetsi, Séan Jansen van Rensburg and Wessel Herbst volunteered to ensure a smooth and safe event.

The parkrun at the Standerton River Park is a free event and one can run, jog or walk, competing against oneself.
