Four people killed in collision on R23 between Standerton and Val

A truck and a sedan collided head-on.

According to a statement of the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, four people died this morning March 25 in a head-on collision between an articulated truck and a sedan on R23 between Standerton and Val.

 

The four men, all in their 40s, are the driver of the sedan and three passengers.

 

 

Another person was seriously injured while two more passengers escaped with slight injuries.

 

All the injured were rushed to the nearby hospital.

 

The driver of the truck was not injured.

 

“Although the matter is still under investigation, dangerous overtaking is suspected to be the cause,” said Moeti Mmusi, Mpumalanga DCSSL spokesman.
