Mr and Miss Bronkhorstspruit to make its debut

Beauty pageant coming to town.

Pontsho Pretty Makuwa, a Rethabiseng, Bronkhorstspruit local, has an impressive list of achievements.

This former model, beauty pageant judge and charity organiser was set on becoming the next Miss South Africa.

Her dreams went awry due to her late mother’s long-term illness, eventual death and lack of support. This did not stop Makuwa from making her dream a reality for others.

She established a non-profit beauty pageant, the Mr and Miss Bronkhorstspruit, that caters for all ages, genders, religions and races in and around Bronkhorstspruit.

“I decided to implement this organisation because there is a lot of unravelled potential and talent in our youth, but they also lack information and support.

“The idea is to bring together our children and youth regardless of weight, height, colour and race. I want to offer them support and be a source of information which I did not have.

“I would hate seeing a young person, especially one who had the same ambitions as mine, not be able to fulfil them due to a lack of information and support.”

Furthermore, Makuwa says this first-of-a-kind event aims to educate participants about caring for the environment, as well as living a healthy lifestyle.

“We value healthy living and a clean environment, therefore our participants’ dress code for this event will be inspired by recycled wear and sportswear.”

Schools that participate by enrolling their learners in the competition stand a chance to win prize money and other vouchers.

Anyone from the ages of three to 18 and older may participate. Categories include Mr & Miss Preschooler, Mr & Miss Middle Childhood, Mr & Miss Pre-Teen, Mr & Miss Teen, Miss Full Figured/Plus Size and Miss Gay, to name a few.
