Immigrant sentenced for murder in Cullinan.

The Cullinan SAPS station commander, Lieutenant Colonel Christiaan Gertzen, applauded Sergeant Detective Thabo Chipa after the heavy sentencing of a murderer.

According to a media statement released from the office of the Cullinan SAPS, the accused murdered a 64-year-old man during a house robbery that took place in Magalies in the Cullinan area in April 2020.

According to Gertzen, Chipa worked tirelessly and followed all the leads, which eventually led to the arrest, trial, conviction and sentencing of Musotho Sitole (53) with his girlfriend Lizah Tshigabe (32), who was found in possession of the deceased’s cellphone.

Sitole was sentenced to 15 years for house burglary and theft, life imprisonment for murder, five years for the possession of ammunition and the contravention of the Immigration Act and was declared unfit to possess a firearm.

Tshigabe was handed five years imprisonment for being an accessory.
