Bethal Police arrest man with Nyaope

A 36-year-old Nigerian man was arrested in Bethal yesterday (Wednesday, February 8) for the possession of about 194 packs of Nyaope.

A 36-year-old Nigerian man was arrested in Bethal yesterday (Wednesday, February 8) for the possession of about 194 packs of Nyaope with an estimated street value of R7 760.

According to Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, provincial police spokesman, information was given to the police about the man who was in possession of the substances and the police followed the lead and arrested the man.

He appeared in the Bethal Magistrate’s Court today (Thursday, February 9) and the case was postponed for further investigation.

The police are working with the Department of Home Affairs to find out about the man’s status in South Africa.

The Provincial Commissioner of the police in Mpumalanga, Lt.-Gen. Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, took the opportunity to warn suspected drug dealers and drug peddlers that the police will continue to gradually make their space smaller as well as for other criminals.
