Some Bethal residents are still without water

Branch chairman also provides water for residents.

Water recently streamed down the road in Stasieweg in Bethal.

Although the water came back in some parts of Bethal, many residents were still left dry by January 16.

Both the old age homes, Residentia Palmoord Ouetehuis and the SAVF Silwerjare Ouetehuis, were also without water. Both managers said they were able to fill up their tanks after the Govan Mbeki Municipality brought them water.

Anelda Postma, chairperson of one of the Bethal branches of the VF+ also helped by supplying water to many residents.

She said people living in Stasieweg and the Transnet houses were badly affected as they also still did not have water.

Apart from rumours that the Govan Mbeki Municipality failed to pay Rand Water, some of the water interruptions were caused by leaking or bursting water pipes.
