Secunda police arrest a woman who faked being hijacked

Her husband and another man will appear alongside her in court.

A woman was arrested in Secunda today, December 21, for opening a false hijacking case.

The woman claimed that she had been hijacked at about 04:00 on December 18 while on her way to the petrol station.

She told the police that men in a silver VW Polo stopped her and then forced her at gunpoint to get out of her car, a red Mazda CX3.

The police impounded the alleged stolen vehicle.

The woman opened a case at Secunda Police Station, but during the cops’ investigation, they noticed things were not adding up.

The police followed up on information and recovered the so-called highjacked car at a house in Secunda. The vehicle was being stripped.

The police said the woman apparently colluded with the hihjackers in staging false hijacking.

She was arrested along with her husband and another man for opening a false case.

They will appear in the Secunda Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, December 22.
